Eva Schestag

studied Sinology and English in Munich, Nanjing, Zurich and Taipei and now lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. She translates poetry and prose from classical and modern Chinese as well as literary journalism texts from English. Among others, she has translated works by Han Shan, Luo Guanzhong, Ai Weiwei and Can Xue. In addition to the graphic novel Our Story by Rao Pingru, her translation of Mark Arax’s epic work about drought and flood and the struggle for water in California, Cracks in the Earth, was published by Matthes & Seitz in 2023. She taught as a guest lecturer at the Institute for General and Comparative Literature at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.
