is a translator of English literature into Polish, including Angela Carter, Joseph Conrad, T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Alice Oswald, Katherine Mansfield and Virginia Woolf. She is the General Secretary of the Polish PEN Club, an honorary member of the Polish Association of Literary Translators and one of the curators of the Found in Translation Festival in Gdańsk. She teaches at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where she heads the Centre for Translation Studies. She works as editor-in-chief of Przekładaniec. A Journal of Translation Studies. Magdalena Heydel has been awarded several Polish translation prizes, including the European Poet of Freedom Translation Award and the Gdynia Literary Award.
