born in Freiburg/Breisgau, studied Slavic studies (Russian and Czech literature), Eastern European history, German studies, and general and comparative literature at the Free University of Berlin, Charles University in Prague, and the University of Potsdam. She lives and works as a freelance translator, editor, and mediator of Czech literature in Stolzenhagen, northeast of Berlin. She translates literature (prose, drama, poetry), academic writing, films (including titles) and memoirs of contemporary witnesses (mainly) from Czech, but every once in a while from English (as a state-accredited translator) and Russian (history, archaeology).
