studied clarinet and bass clarinet with Harmen de Boer and Harry Sparnaay in Amsterdam. From 2006 to 2007, he was a scholarship recipient at the Ensemble Modern Academy and is a member of Ensemble Adapter in Berlin. He performs regularly in Europe and the U.S., including at festivals such as MärzMusik, Ultraschall (Berlin), and the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music. Vilhjálmsson collaborates with many composers of his generation, and has initiated and premiered numerous works. In 2017, he released his CD Ingólfur Vilhjálmsson, Solo Bass Clarinet, Contrabass Clarinet. He has recorded all of Donatoni’s solo works.
