Claudia Dathe

was born in 1971 and studied translation (Russian, Polish) and business in Leipzig, Pyatigorsk (Russia), and Krakow. After extensive work abroad in Kazakhstan and Ukraine, she has worked as a literary translator and cultural manager since 2005. She translates literature from Russian and Ukrainian, including works by Andrey Kurkov, Serhij Zhadan, Ostap Slyvynsky, and Yevgenia Belorusets. In 2020, together with Yevgenia Belorusets, she was awarded the International Literature Prize for the book Happy Falls, and in 2021, shw was awarded the Drahomán Prize for the translation of Serhij Zhadan’s poetry collection Antenne and for the novel Fairy Tales from My Air Raid Shelter by Oleksij Tschupa.
