Andreas Jandl

was born in 1975. He studied theatre studies, English and Romance languages and literature in Berlin, London and Montreal. Since 2000 he has worked freelance as an editorial assistant, dramaturge and translator from English and French. His translations include plays and novels by authors such as David Diop, Nicolas Dickner, Elisa Shua Dusapin, Maaza Mengiste, Gaétan Soucy and Joséphine Bacon. In 2017, he was awarded the Christoph Martin Wieland Translation Prize together with his co-translator Frank Sievers for the translation of J. A. Baker’s The Peregrine Falcon (Matthes & Seitz, 2014). In 2021 he received the Eugen Helmlé Translator’s Prize for his life’s work.
